Work Abroad

Many students choose to spend time before, during or after their studies working abroad. Provided you do your research and you know what to expect from your trip, it’s a great way to see new places, meet new people and get to know different cultures. You’ll return home feeling energised and ready to get stuck in to the remainder of your studies, or to your new job after graduating.

A common choice is to visit the USA to work in summer camps. Not only is it a great way to see another part of the world but you’re normally paid quite well and you’ll gain great experience for your CV. Two companies with many years experience of organising such trips are Camp America and Wild Packs. Camp America are holding a Recruitment Fair in Edinburgh on Tuesday 17th January 2017. For more information on the event click here or visit their Facebook page.

BUNAC offer similar work abroad opportunities, with the main difference being that they offer placements all over the world. They are holding a Recruitment Fair, again in Edinburgh, on Sunday 12th February 2017. Click here for more info and to book yourself a place at the event.

If you are specifically looking to work abroad as a nanny/au pair we’d recommend having a look at the Cultural Care Au Pair website.

If you are looking to work abroad or travel for more than a couple of months, a cheap way to do this is to work in exchange for accommodation and meals. HelpX and Wwoof are good places to start your search for such opportunities.
